Ella Masar's side of the MagicJack/Dan Borislow story

This is too important to not post. I highly encourage all of you to read this. You will be disgusted, infuriated, and saddened, but if you care about the WPS or women’s soccer, you should definitely look this over. Click on the title to view the link.

TODAY: Western NY Flash vs magicJack

The Western New York Flash (11-2-3, 36 points) of Women’s Professional Soccer will travel to Boca Raton, Florida to play magicJack (8-6-2, 25 points) at Florida International University with a start time of 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

The Flash have first place on the line with just two games remaining. The Flash will clinch first place if they win both games on Wednesday and again on Sunday evening at home. As it currently stands, the Flash are once again tied with the Philadephia Independence at 36 points. The Independence and Flash are fighting for the automatic spot in the WPS championship match on August 27th with home field advantage at stake.

The Flash most recently played Atlanta Beat on Saturday evening and played to a 2-0 win with Brazilian international forward Marta scoring both goals for the visiting side. The Flash are playing their third game of the season against the magicJack team, but their first on the road. The Flash won both previous matchups that were both played at Sahlen’s Stadium, 3-0 in May, and a 3-1 win July 20th in front of a WPS record setting crowd of 15,404.

magicJack has also already clinched a playoff spot and will host the first round of the playoffs against the fouth place seed. They are coming off a 3-2 defeat over Sky Blue FC last Wednesday.

The Flash will return home for their last regular season game against the Atlanta Beat on Sunday, August 14th at 6 p.m at Sahlen’s Stadium. This is the Flash’s Puma Project PINK game in which the players will sport all pink kits and after the game the jerseys will be raffled off. The Flash players also have personal raffle baskets they have made that will be raffled off after the game as well on Sunday. All raffle proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation to support breast cancer research.

Kick off is at 7:00PM ET. No TV listings, no online streams. @LilianaKligman on twitter tried to get permission to do a webcast, but she was told that only FSC can do live videos of the WPS games. However, she is asking if she can record the match and then put it on youtube, so we’ll see! EDIT: Unfortunately, she was told that she couldn’t, because it would be a violation of rights :( Guess we’ll just have to wait for the WPS’ highlights.
