The Sounders open their 2012 W-League home campaign at Starfire Stadium against the Colorado Rush. Hope Solo, Alex Morgan and the rest of the ladies put on a great show and ended up with the win and 3 points.

Classy

Here’s some of what U.S. national team member Alex Morgan had to say after recording a goal and an assist in her debut with the Sounders Women tonight, a 5-0 friendly win over Seattle Pacific.
On the game: I felt good about our first time playing together. We haven’t been able to practice a lot together. It’s good. We came out and played a great game — a 5-0 win – and we look forward to the rest of this week and playing again on Friday.
On scoring: I had my fair share of chances. So, I did get on the board, and I’m happy about that. Hopefully next time I’ll put a few more away.
On the near-sellout crowd: I’m really impressed with Seattle and the support that we’ve got for the women’s team. It’s been great so far. I was really surprised at how many fans came out to support us. With the WPS we were lucky getting a crowd like this. This was a crowd we would get maybe directly after the World Cup.
On Seattle possibly joining WPS: Oh yeah, Seattle is a great soccer city – all of the Northwest. You just see that with MLS, so I’m really hope they take that next step if the WPS decides to come back if they can get their act together to come back next year, Seattle is definitely doing the right thing this year.
On having so many national team members on Sounders Women: It’s get to have (five U.S. national team members) on this team. It’s always nice to be able to play with them and get some extra games and practices with my teammates. But it’s also nice to switch it up. We’re with the team all the time, so it’s nice to get a feel for other plyayers and get some games in and some competitions with teams other than playing intersquad scrimmages in training camp.
On wearing the same jersey as her longtime boyfriend, Sounders FC midfielder Servando Carrasco: It’s awesome to put on this jersey and have my name on the back. I’ve been wearing this jersey with “Carrasco” on the back all last year and this year, so it’s really nice to have my own jersey. It was almost a little surreal putting it on today. I’m really happy about that.
